Welcome

We’ve lived through some tough times in recent years. Too many lives were lost to COVID. And we are still dealing with the persistence of the disease, even if it’s less lethal and we have tools to fight it.   I am grateful that my own experience of COVID was mild and I recovered fully.  But we are currently living through a new phase of vaccine skepticism accelerated by people in power that threatens to bring back diseases we had learned to control. The rise in the number of measles cases is just one example. Lives have been lost needlessly.

Lies and distortions of the truth have also become commonplace and don’t carry the shame once associated with engaging in manifestly immoral or lawless behavior. Our civic life cries out for repair. We need better leaders, less credulous and more engaged voters, and solidarity that transcends ethnicity, religion or class to achieve justice and peace.

I have been very fortunate in my journey through life; in my family and friends.  I have had great mentors and have learned a few things through more than three decades in corporate and agency life, promoting transparency, ethics and clarity in how corporate entities speak to their audiences. I bring those lessons to bear when I advise clients on how to communicate with credibility, integrity and purpose. How to avoid the perils of communications without substance; how to stay away from the ickiness of PR and “spin” while building their brand or moving the issues they care about forward. Interacting with the media, providing effective testimony, figuring out the best way to present information to interested parties, effective writing and speaking, understanding the broader cultural  and community context in which advocating for issues takes place. That’s what my professional consulting practice, Dawn Morais LLC is all about. Welcome.
