This is a time to “wash our eyes” said moderator Maya Soetoro. And so we did. I was honored to be on a panel with Dean Jonathan Osorio and Rev. David Turner on Friday September 10, 2021, in this time of loss to gather our thoughts and our energies to take a fresh look at our faiths and consider our future. Your thoughts as you listen to this conversation are most welcome. There is much we–the people in the pews as much as clergy–need to do to build the beloved community. To embark on really new beginnings. I am grateful to call Hawaiʻi home. I am deeply mindful of the privilege of being welcomed into this wonderful community. I look forward to continue doing my small part by working with those who are addressing the many hurts that linger from the illegal annexation of the Hawaiian kingdom and the deposing of beloved Queen Lili’uokalani who chose the safety of her people over her rightful place on the throne.
